No more biannual kerbside collection in Tweed. Now it’s on call.

Gone is the old-style biannual kerbside collection of bulk waste around the Tweed. Now, instead, locals are being offered up to two collections of two cubic metres each year to clean away large items.

The Tweed Shire Council says the change was to address the issue of illegal dumping that had had a big impact on the community previously – from both a cost and aesthetic perspective.

Another big change is that renters, not just property owners, will be able to make bookings for the new On-Call Household Clean-up service. That being said, if you live in a multi-unit property, the responsibility will fall on the property manager to organise collections – to avoid having piles of waste on the kerb for long periods of time.
