Three clubs in southeast Queensland will battle it out to become the NRL’s 17th team.
The ARL commission confirmed to the existing 16 clubs yesterday that an expansion will be going ahead, with a new Queensland team to be introduced from 2023.
The NRL Expansion Assessment Committee will discuss the matter today, with rumours the Redcliffe Dolphins are the favourites.

The Ipswich Jets and the Brisbane Firehawks insists they are still in contention as well.
It’s understood a decision and announcement will likely be made next week.
Redcliffe General Manager Terry Reader’s told Nine Radio that either way it goes, it’s great news for Brisbane.
“It doesn’t matter what happens 0 Brisbane will have another team by 2023 by all reports.
“It’s really exciting for our region and we can’t wait, we really hope we’re the successful one,” Mr Reader said.
