NRL stars call for Indigenous Aussies to be RECOGNISED in Constitution

Three mega stars of the NRL are flexing their muscles off the field as they tackle a major political issue.

In line with this weekend’s Indigenous round Johnathan Thurston, Greg Inglis and Sam Thaiday are featured in a commercial calling for Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders to be recognised in the Australian Constitution and ensure there is no place for racial discrimination.

“Do you recognise me?” they ask.

“My people, the first Australians, aren’t recognised in our nation’s Constitution. And it still allows for racial discrimination.”

“All Australians deserve a level playing field.”

The RECOGNISE ‘R’ will be painted on all 40 metre lines during NRL matches this weekend. While referees will wear Indigenous inspired jerseys, traditional dances and ceremonies will take place before matches and a host of teams will wear Indigenous Round jerseys.
