NSW and Victoria set new COVID-19 records as cases soar

COVID-19 cases in New South Wales have soared again with the state recording yet another daily record.

In the past 24 hours, infections have skyrocketed to a massive 12,226 cases and one death.

It comes after more than 97,201 tests were carried out in the past day.


There are now 746 people being treated in hospital, including 63 in intensive care.

Victoria’s latest outbreak has also worsened, with 5137 new cases detected today.

That’s another record daily high for the state, and an increase of more than 1300 cases on Wednesday’s numbers.

The total number of active cases in Victoria now stands at 23,833.

More than 81,000 people came forward for testing across the state in the past 24 hours.
