NSW beaches reopen after shark attack
Beaches have reopened on NSW’s mid north coast after a shark mauled a body boarder.
Dale Carr, 38, is recovering in hospital after the attack at Lighthouse Beach on Saturday evening.
He suffered leg, back and stomach injuries while escaping the suspected three-metre bull shark.
The Port Macquarie-Hastings Council says beaches reopened at 6am on Monday after extensive air patrols.
Authorities will begin tagging large sharks off the NSW coast this week.
Ballina surfers and fishermen have called for a cull after 22 sightings of large sharks and three serious attacks, including one that killed Japanese surfer Tadashi Nakahara.
