Chemical castration of child sex offenders is one of the options being put forward by the NSW Deputy Premier and Justice Minister Troy Grant.
A new taskforce, made up of child abuse victims’ group Bravehearts as well as police and health authorities, will consider if courts should be empowered to order anti-libidinal treatment for convicted pedophiles.
The taskforce is due to make recommendations to government by the end of the year.

Chemical castration is an option available to offenders in prison but it is not a judicial sentencing option.
