A NSW police officer has been charged after he was allegedly caught drink-driving while off-duty near Newcastle overnight.
Highway Patrol officers stopped the man’s vehicle on the Pacific Highway at Charlestown shortly after 10pm for a random breath test.
After returning a positive roadside breath test, the male driver – an off-duty police officer attached to the Northern Region – was arrested and taken to Charlestown Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.063.
