NSW COVID cases spike again, Vic infections steady

New South Wales has seen another surge in COVID-19 infections with 6288 recorded on Saturday.

That’s up from the 5612 cases reported on Friday.

No further deaths were recorded in New South Wales overnight.


There’s been only a slight increase in people being admitted to hospital with COVID-19 with 388 patients, up six on yesterday.

Of those, 52 are in ICU, one less than Friday.

Just under 150,000 tests were carried out across the state.

Case numbers in Victoria have remained steady with 2108 new infections, compared to 2095 reported on Friday.

The state also recorded a further six deaths.

There are currently 361 people in hospital with 71 of those in ICU.
