NSW: Drunk driver escapes fiery crash unhurt

A MAN has been charged with high-range drink-driving following a crash at Glebe overnight.

Emergency services were called to Bay Street about 8.15pm, after a car hit a barrier and flipped.

The 25-year-old male driver was not injured and managed to free himself from the vehicle, before it caught fire.

The fire was extinguished and officers from Leichhardt Local Area Command attended and spoke with the driver who was arrested after returning a positive roadside breath test.

He was taken to Newtown Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.180.

The Kellyville man was charged with high range PCA and was given bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on 30 October.
