NSW: Family Services called after father caught drink-driving with kids in car

POLICE have called the Department of Family Services after a father was allegedly caught drink-driving down a NSW highway with his three children in the car overnight.

About 7.40pm, police from Barwon’s Traffic and Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on the Gwydir Highway, about 20kms west of Moree, for the purpose of a breath test.

The 42-year-old male driver from Collarenebri, who had three children in the back seat aged seven to 11, returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station where he allegedly returned a reading of 0.257 and was subsequently charged with high-range drink driving.

His driver’s licence was immediately suspended and he is due to front Moree Local Court on Monday 12 October 2015.

The Department of Family and Community Services was notified of the incident.
