A ROCK fisherman has tragically died after he was swept into the ocean on the NSW far south coast this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Dark Beach at South Darras, north of Batemans Bay, at around 1.30pm after the man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was knocked off a set of rocks by a large wave and swept into the sea.
Scores of police, joined by the Westpac Lifesaver helicopter, initiated a search of the water and located the man just before 2.30pm.
