NSW: Golf Club destroyed by fire overnight

A FEROCIOUS fire has ripped through the Nelson Bay Golf Club overnight, causing extensive damage.

About 12.30am, emergency services were called to the Dowling Street premises following reports of a fire.

On arrival, they found smoke billowing from the western side of the building and flames shooting out of the roof.


Multiple fire crews were called in from surrounding areas to assist.

Thankfully, nobody was injured during the fire but the building sustained extensive damage.

Investigations into the cause of the fire will be made once the scene has been declared safe.

The golf club is expected to be closed for at least 24 hours.
