NSW: Man armed with tomahawk storms video store

DETECTIVES are investigating the frightening attempted armed robbery of a small video store at Sanctuary Point overnight where a female employee was allegedly threatened with a tomahawk.

It’s understood the attendant was working at the Kerry Street store about 8.30pm on Friday when a man armed with a tomahawk stormed the shop.

The armed man allegedly threatened the woman and demanded cash.

“The woman came out from behind the counter and moved towards the front door of the store,” police said in a statement.

“As the man was exiting the door he swiped the tomahawk towards the woman, but missed her. The man ran from the scene without any proceeds.”

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The man has been described as Caucasian appearance, 170-175cm tall, wearing black shoes, grey coloured pants, a black hooded jumper, grey t-shirt, black gloves, and he had a blue shirt wrapped around his face.
