NSW man banned from driving for 18 years allegedly sparks pursuit

A man banned from driving until 2034 allegedly sparked a pursuit in Sydney’s south west.

Just before 7pm on Wednesday, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers attempted to stop a Holden sedan on Pembroke Road, Leumeah, believing the car was stolen.

But they gave chase when the driver allegedly refused to stop.

It was terminated a short time later when the Holden stopped on Rudd Road and the driver got out.

Police ran after him and eventually arrested a 26-year-old.

During the struggle, a male Senior Constable injured his knee.

It’s claimed the motorist has already been disqualified from driving until 2034.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with drive while disqualified, take and use conveyance, resist arrest (x2) and assault police.

The man was refused bail to face Campbelltown Local Court on Thursday.
