NSW: Man charged after car crashes through backyard of Sydney townhouse
A MAN has been arrested and charged after allegedly crashing his car through the backyard of a townhouse complex in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs overnight.
Police were called to the Wassell Street home in Chifley about 11.30pm after a car drove ploughed through the rear yard before coming to a halt down an embankment.
Following inquiries, police arrested the 24-year-old male driver – who had fled the scene – at a home in Namatjira Place.
He was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with a long list of offences, including driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol/other drug, resisting an officer in the execution of duty, and using an unregistered, uninsured motor vehicle.
He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.
