NSW: Man charged over alleged historical child sex assaults

A MAN will appear in court next month, charged over a number of historical sexual assaults allegedly committed at Frenchs Forest.

Police allege the now 70-year-old man sexually and indecently assaulted at least four girls aged between eight and 14 years, in the 1980s and early 1990s.

In October 2014, detectives attached to the Northern Beaches Local Area Command established Strike Force Shierlaw to investigate the allegations.

Following inquiries, detectives yesterday arrested a 70-year-old man at a unit in Dee Why.

He was taken to Manly Police Station, where he was charged with assault female and commit act of indecency (person under 16 years); three counts of sexual assault (person under 16 years); sexual assault person (under 16 and under authority); and aggravated indecency (victim under 16 years and under authority).

He was released on strict bail conditions to appear at Manly Local Court on 8 October.
