NSW: Man charged over horror dog slaying

A MAN has been charged with using a shovel and hammer to savagely bludgeon a dog to death at his home in Inverell last weekend.

The 45-year-old man allegedly killed the male American Bulldog after it walked on to his property at around 7am on Sunday.

He attended Inverell Police Station yesterday afternoon where he was served a court attendance notice for serious animal cruelty.

He is scheduled to front Inverell Local Court on 26 November.
