POLICE have charged a man with murder following the death of a six-month old baby boy in the Hunter region.
Emergency servcies were called to a New Lambton home in the early hours of Saturday morning following reports the baby had gone in to cardiac arrest.
The boy was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition but died in hospital the following day.

A post mortem examination determined he died as a result of a traumatic head injury.
Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 28-year-old man at Budgewoi about 12.20pm yesterday.
He was taken to Wyong Police Station, where he was charged with murder and reckless grievous bodily harm.
The New Lambton man was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today.
