Emergency crews were called to the house which was well alight on Horsely Road in Revesby about 5pm on Saturday.

Police say the occupants, a woman aged 27 and two children aged three and four, were treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital.

The woman, believed to be the mother of the two children, remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition with burns to her hands, arms and face.

Her two children both suffered from smoke inhalation and have since been released from hospital.

Police say the entire ground floor of the home was destroyed by fire.
