NSW mum saves son from would-be predator

A seven-year-old boy has his mother to thank, after a man walked up to him while he was standing outside a toilet block in the Lake Macquarie region on Sunday.

The boy was at Redhead Beach when a man walked up to him at around 2:00PM.

The man started talking to the boy and allegedly asked him to go into the toilets with him.


A short time later the boy’s mother confronted the man and ran off.

Police found a potential suspect at the northern end of Redhead Beach. As they approached him, it is alleged they observed him committing an indecent act.

The man was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with intimidate intend fear physical harm, behave in offensive manner in public place, and wilful and obscene exposure in public place.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday.
