NSW police officer charged with assault following domestic violence incident

A POLICE officer has been arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm following a domestic violence-related incident at a house in Sydney’s west.

The 39-year-old senior constable was arrested at a home in Mt Druitt on Friday afternoon. Police said they were called to the Hassall Grove home in response to a domestic disturbance around 4pm.

After speaking with a teenage girl at the house, officers escorted the 39-year-old man back to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was formally interviewed.

In a statement released this afternoon, police said the senior constable had been charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (Domestic Violence-related).

The officer, identified only as being senior constable attached to a local area command in the South West Metropolitan Region, is due to front Mt Druitt Local Court on Monday.
