NSW Police officer charged with torching car

A POLICE officer in New South Wales has been charged after he allegedly torched a car as part of an alleged insurance scam.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on the state’s north coast in May.

The 26-year-old Constable has been charged with dishonestly destroying property by fire and intention to defraud by false or misleading statement.

The officer, who is attached to the Central Metropolitan Region, is due to appear before Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday 5 September 2016.

The Constable’s duty status is currently being reviewed.
