NSW: Police seek witnesses after man found lying on road with critical head injuries

POLICE are calling for witnesses to come forward after a man was found lying on a road with critical head injuries at Ingleburn overnight.

Officers say they were called to Stennett Road, near Slater Road, just after 2am following reports of a car crash.

But when they arrived, they found a man lying on the road near an abandoned black Holden ute which had mounted the gutter.

The man, whose age remains unknown, was rushed to Liverpool Hospital where he remains in a critical condition with extensive head injuries.

A crime scene was established and examined by Metropolitan Crash Investigators early this morning, but it remains unclear how the man sustained the injuries.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that may assist with determining how the man ended up on the roadway with critical injuries, to call Macquarie Fields Police Station on 9605 0499 or Crime Stoppers.
