NSW: Police track down, arrest and charge violent carjackers

POLICE have charged two men following an alleged carjacking at Homebush last week.

About 1.45pm on Thursday 10 September, a 44-year-old man returned to his vehicle, which was parked on Burlington Road, after having lunch with friends.

Police have been told once he got into the car, the driver’s door was opened and the 44-year-old was allegedly threatened by a man with a knife who demanded he get out of the car.

He complied and the man allegedly drove off in his vehicle, a black 2014 model Mercedes Benz AMG sedan with NSW registration TH08KK.

The 44-year-old was not injured in the incident.

On Thursday 17 September, a 27-year-old man attended Burwood Police Station where he was arrested and charged with aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in it armed with weapon.

He was refused bail and appeared at Burwood Local Court, where he was refused bail again to re-appear at Parramatta Bail Court today, Saturday 19 September.

Then, about 12pm on Friday, police raided a home in Park Road at Homebush and seized a number of items of interest before moving on to a home at Casula where they arrested a 19-year-old man.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in it armed with weapon. The man was refused bail to also appear before Parramatta Bail Court today.

Inquiries are continuing, and the Mercedes Benz has not been recovered.
