NSW Shark nets trial to be accelerated

The trial of shark nets on five beaches in the New South Wales North Coast will be accelerated, after the legislation was passed with bipartisan support in Parliament.

The bill was posted after a spate of attacks, including three in the Byron Bay and Ballina region in the past few months.

The rollout is due to be complete by the summer school holidays and will include increased aerial surveillance and installing 100 smart drumlines in the area.
