NSW: Teen spared serious injury after Subaru WRX slams into tree

A TEENAGE boy has escaped serious injury after the Subaru WRX he was passenger in lost control and slammed into a tree in the Hawkesbury region on Friday night.

Police say the Subaru was being driven along River Road at Lower Portland by a man believed to aged in his 30s when, while negotiating a right hand bend, left the roadway and struck a pole at around 6.20pm.

A 13-year-old male passenger suffered ‘arm injuries’ and was transported in a stable condition by ambulance to Hawkesbury Hospital.

Police said the male driver spoke with officers at the scene before leaving on his own accord.

At this stage, police say speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.

Inquiries into the circumstances leading up to the crash are still continuing.
