As the group was walking along Newman Street, one of the males asked the 18-year-old for money, before assaulting him and attempting to take his mobile.

The injured man attempted to keep hold of the phone, when he was assaulted once more.

The males ran from the scene and the injured man and his friend contacted police. The injured man did not require treatment.

Officers attached to Holroyd Local Area Commend commenced investigating the incident.

As they continue their inquiries, police would like to speak to two males who may be able to assist them.

One male is described as being of African appearance, about 19-20 years old, about 170cm tall and of slim build. He was seen wearing a white t-shirt.

The second male is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of medium build, about 20-25 years old, and was seen wearing a red or orange jacket and an orange cap.
