NSW: Two pedestrians run down overnight

POLICE are investigating after two pedestrians were run over in separate incidents last night, one at Padstow and the other in Greystanes.

About 5.10pm on Friday, a 44-year-old Greystanes man was crossing Merrylands Road, Greystanes, about 80m west of the Cumberland Highway when he was hit by a Nissan Pulsar.

The driver, a 46-year-old Fairfield man stopped and assisted the pedestrian.


Police from Holroyd Local Area Command were contacted and attended.

An investigation was commenced with the assistance of Metropolitan Crash Investigators.

The pedestrian was taken to Westmead Hospital with a fractured ankle and is in a serious but stable condition.

The driver underwent a breath test with a negative result.

Then, about 6.50pm, an 82-year-old woman was walking on a pedestrian crossing near the intersection of Gibson Road and Halycon Avenue, Padstow, when she was hit by a Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Camry, a 72-year-old man, stopped and rendered assistance.

Emergency services were contacted and officers from Bankstown Local Area Command attended.

The woman was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver was also taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Metropolitan Crash Investigators attended the scene and commenced an investigation.

Inquiries into both incidents are continuing and investigators are appealing for any witnesses, to either collision that have not yet spoken to police, to contact Crime Stoppers.
