NSW warned to brace for damaging winds

A severe weather warning for damaging winds remains current for the Central Tablelands and Southern Tablelands district.

It comes after Sydney’st west and the central coast were battered by a short, but powerful storm overnight.

The weather bureau says damaging west to southwest winds, averaging 60 to 65 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are expected this afternoon.

Some snow is also possible above 1200 metres this morning, BOM says.

Locations which may be affected include Orange, Bathurst, Katoomba, Hill End, Crookwell and Taralga.

Winds are expected to ease this evening.
