NSW: Woman, 94, dies after being hit by car while trying to walk across major highway

A 94-YEAR-OLD woman who was run over by a car while trying to walk across a major highway on the NSW south coast has died in hospital.

The elderly woman was reportedly attempting to cross the third northbound lane of the Princes Highway, about 30 metres north of Junction Street, when she was struck by a Mazda SUV.

The location is not a designated pedestrian crossing.


She was treated by paramedics at the scene, which is not a designated pedestrian crossing, for life-threatening laceration to the back of her head.

She was airlifted to St George Hospital where she sadly succumbed to her injuries and died early this morning.

A report is being prepared for the information of the Coroner.
