She was rushed to Parkes District Hospital before being airlifted to Sydney Children’s Hospital for specialised treatment.

The girl and another child – a 10-month-old boy – are now in the care of the Department of Family and Community Services.

Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s injuries and, following extensive inquiries, arrested a 30-year-old woman at the home in Parkes yesterday.

She was taken Parkes Police Station and charged with two counts of recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.

The woman was granted bail and is due to appear at Parkes Local Court on Monday 19 September.
