NSW: Woman’s drowning death “not suspicious”, police say

POLICE say there are no suspicious circumstance surrounding the death of a woman whose body was found floating in the surf at a beach on the NSW North Coast yesterday afternoon.

The 26-year-old woman’s body was spotted face down in the water at Mullawarra Beach in Arrawarra, north of Coffs Harbour, shortly after 2pm.

Police said two bystanders pulled the woman to shore and tried desperately to revive her, but sadly she could not be saved.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were told that the woman had earlier told friends she was going for a swim.

Initial investigations suggest there were no suspicious circumstances involved.

Police will now prepare a report for the Coroner.
