Off-duty NSW police officer charged with punching Gold Coast officer at GC 600

AN off-duty police officer has been charged with assault after he allegedly punched another officer in the face.

About 11pm on Saturday 24 October 2015, Queensland police officers approached the 58-year-old detective sergeant at the GC 600 event in Surfers Paradise.

It’s alleged the officer, who is attached to the North West Metropolitan Region, assaulted the Queensland Police officer.


The man was arrested and taken to a Gold Coast police station, where he was charged with serious assault of a police officer and obstruct police.

He was refused bail, and appeared at Southport Magistrates Court today, Monday 26 October 2015.

In court, he was granted bail to next appear on 17 November 2015.
