Olympic swimmer helps light up Marina Mirage

The iconic white sails of Marina Mirage will shine bright in colour at night over the next few weeks, giving locals and visitors the chance to enjoy an illuminated spectacle when the sun goes down each evening.

Last night, Olympic and Commonwealth Games medalist Sam Riley flicked the switch to light up the centre’s 20 sail-like structures, which project 16 metres into the sky.

Marina Mirage marketing manager Chelsea Steber said the light show will display the colour and spirit of the Games.

“Marina Mirage’s illuminated sails are sure to create a spectacular light show in the Gold Coast night sky over the next few weeks,” Ms Steber said.

“We were proud to have legendary Australian athlete Sam Riley on board as the very first person to flick the switch, transforming the white sails into a glowing spectacle.

“When an Aussie wins a gold medal, the lighting will transform into a green and gold effect to celebrate the win.”

Marina Mirage is also set to become a place of retreat and relaxation during the Games with the Marina Mirage Live Lounge to live stream of all the sporting action from 9am to 9pm daily.
