It was created by 25-year-old Philip Frenzel, a student at Aalen University, who was fed up with dropping his smartphone and cracking the screen.
According to Frenzel, the case is fitted with sensors that detect when the phone is in free fall, with the metal springs then popping out to protect the phone before it reaches the ground.
The university student is currently crowdfunding the case on kickstarter, which is an online funding platform for creative projects.
