One dead after cars collide in country town

A MAN has died in hospital following a nasty two-car crash in Central West New South Wales.

The 64-year-old was driving a Hyundai Elenatra that collided with a Ford Everest on the corner of Lake Canobolas and Cargo Roads in Orange just after 9am on Friday.

The man was trapped in his vehicle for sometime and needed to be freed by emergency services.

He was critically injured and taken to Orange Hospital where police confirmed he later passed away.

The 40-year-old woman behind the wheel of the ford walked away from the crash unhurt. Police said she passed a roadside breath test.

Officers from Central West Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
