One dead and four injured in Tweed crash

A YOUNG man has died and another four are in hospital after a car crash near Tweed Heads.

The single-vehicle crash happened on Terranora Road at Banora Point around 1:30am on Sunday when the Toyota Hilux 4WD  hit an embankment and rolled onto its roof.

Five people were in the vehicle at the time; one of the passengers – believed to have been travelling in the back – died at the scene.


The remaining four men were taken to The Tweed Hospital with minor injuries.

All men are believed to be aged in their 20s from the Tweed Heads area.

Terranora Road at Banora Point was closed for more than six hours while officers from the Crash Investigation Unit examined the scene.
