One dead, another airlifted to hospital after truck and car collide on Qld highway

ONE person has died and another has been airlifted to hospital after the car they were in collided with a truck in the Scenic Rim.

The vehicles came to grief on the Cunningham Highway near Boonah-Fassifern Road just before 11am.

Police the driver of the car, a 75-year-old man from Camira, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, a 68-year-old woman was critically injured and airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The 42-year-old man behind the wheel of the truck escaped serious injury.

The Cunningham Highway remained closed to traffic on Wednesday afternoon, with diversions in place.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
