One dead, another critical after horror crash in NSW

A man has died and another is fighting for life after a crash near Tamworth.

A Toyota Rav 4 collided head on with a Holden Commodore on Manilla Road at Hallsville, about 15 kilometres from Tamworth at around 10.50pm on Thursday night.

A 43-year-old man who was behind the wheel of the Toyota died at the scene.


A 29-year-old passenger suffered minor lacerations and was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital for further treatment.

The driver of a Commodore, a 34-year-old man was trapped for some time before being freed by emergency services.

He was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in a critical condition.

Police are looking into the cause of the accident and say investigations are continuing.
