One dead, another injured in Gold Coast ‘traffic incident’

UPDATE @ 4.50am June 17 | POLICE have confirmed a man has died and another has been seriously injured after they were run over by a car in Elanora.

Emergency services rushed to the intersection of Doubleview Drive and Attandale Street just before 9.00pm on Sunday, following reports two men had been struck.

“Initial reports suggest the men were on the roadway at the time of the incident,” Queensland Police said in a statement.


A 25-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene while another 25-year-old man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

The 33-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was not physically injured.

Investigations will continue today to determine why the men were on the roadway at the time.

EARLIER @ 10.17pm | ONE person has been killed and another rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a reported traffic incident at Elanora, on the southern Gold Coast.

It’s understood two pedestrians were struck by a car on Doubleview Drive shortly before 9pm on Sunday.

Sadly, one person was confirmed deceased at the scene, while the other – reported to be a man in his 20s – was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

The Gold Coast Bulletin reports the injured pedestrian was transported to hospital under priority conditions.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately known.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
