One dead, another seriously injured in horror hinterland crash

UPDATE: ONE person has died and another is seriously injured after a horror multi-vehicle crash in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Early reports suggest two motorcycles and a van collided on the notorious Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd at Advancetown, near Cedar Lake Country Resort, shortly after 11.30am on Sunday.

As a result of the collision, a motorcyclist – said to be one of a group of six riding together – was catapulted into the air and thrown 30m down an embankment.

Sadly, that rider has died at the scene with emergency services still attempting to retrieve the body.

It’s understood a second person, believed to be another motorcyclist, has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

Emergency services have since dismissed earlier reports suggesting six people had been injured.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the area is possible, with lengthy delays expected for the remainder of the afternoon.
