AN elderly man has been killed after the car he was driving collided head-on with a truck in northern NSW.
It happened on the Pacific Highway at Broadwater, in the state’s Northern Rivers region, on Friday night.
Police said a white Toyota sedan collided head-on with a white Volvo prime mover just before 7pm.

The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, an 88-year-old man, was critically injured and died at the scene.
The 51-year-old man behind the wheel of the prime mover escaped injury and was taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
Police said investigators are examining the elderly man’s medical history, with reports suggesting that he may have suffered a medical episode behind the wheel.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
