A WORKER has been killed while trying to load a road roller onto the back of a truck in northern NSW.
It happened south of Lismore, near where the Bruxner Highway meets Barker Street at Gundurimba, just after 11am on Wednesday.
Police said the 49-year-old man died when the road compactor he was driving slid off the back of a truck.

“As the 49-year-old man was loading the equipment, it has rolled and gone into a table drain,” police said.
Sadly, police confirmed the man could not be saved and died at the scene.
A crane needed to be called in to lift the road roller out of the drain.
Officers from the Richmond Police District are investigating the events leading up to the man’s death.
