One dead in Lockyer Valley crash

A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed in a crash with a ute in the Lockyer Valley, west of Brisbane.

It happened where Gehrke Road meets Lorikeet Road at Regency Downs about 6pm last night.

Police said the southbound motorcyclist was struck by a northbound ute as it turned into Lorikeet Rd.


The rider, a man in his 30s, and a pillion passenger, a woman also in her 30s, were thrown from the bike.

Sadly, the man could not be saved and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The woman was taken to Ipswich Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the ute, a 17-year-old girl, and her 17-year-old male passenger escaped uninjured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
