A MAN has died and two women have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a tree in the NSW Hunter region this morning.
Emergency services rushed to Congewai Road in Congewai around 1.00am today after receiving reports of a serious car crash.
The driver, a 28-year-old woman, and a passenger, a 25-year-old woman, were taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Another passenger, a man believed to be aged in his 20s, died at the scene.
Police say he has not been formally identified at this stage.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are underway.
