One hospitalised after car hits tram
ONE person has been taken to hospital after a car collided with a tram in Southport.
It happened at the intersection of Scarborough and Lawson streets around 8.30pm.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said one occupant from the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
They were treated at the scene before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The driver of the tram and all its passengers were also assessed at the scene and found to be uninjured.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision were not immediately known.
Police are in attendance and have closed the intersection while crews work to clear the scene.
Light rail services have also been suspended in both directions in the area.
