One hospitalised after unit fire in Biggera Waters

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a unit fire on the Gold Coast overnight.

It broke out on the second storey of a home on East Quay Drive in Biggera Waters around midnight.

Fire fighters reported the whole second storey looked well alight on arrival, though upon entering the building found it was contained to the outdoor balcony.

It took around an hour to extinguish the blaze.

QFES is yet to confirm whether or not fire investigators will return to the scene today, though police and paramedics attended as well.

Paramedics say they treated one patient briefly at the scene, before transporting them in a stable condition to Gold Coast University Hospital as a precaution.
