One injured as crews battle large Gold Coast house fire

UPDATE @ 11.40AM | Fire crews have now brought a large house fire in Carrara under control.

The blaze broke out around 10.30am at the home on Nerang Broadbeach Rd.

Neighbours report hearing an explosion just before the house erupted in flames, completely destroying the home.

Six fire crews remain on the scene dampening down hotspots.

One man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with burns to his arm and head.

It’s not clear at this stage what sparked the fire with investigators expected at the scene later today.

EARLIER | Fire crews are battling a large house fire in Carrara that’s left one person injured and is threatening to spread to adjoining properties.

Emergency services were called to the home on Nerang Broadbeach Rd around 10.30am on Thursday morning.

A QFES spokesperson reports the house was well involved when crews arrived on scene.

Extra resources have been called in as crews protest neighbouring homes.

Critical care paramedics are on scene treating one person with burns to their arms.
