One Nation’s Pauline Hanson accepts Steve Dickson’s resignation over strip club scandal

One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson has addressed the resignation of one of Senator Steve Dickson this morning, saying she’s ‘shocked and disappointed’.

It comes after footage was leaked of Senator Steve Dickson at a strip club in Washington DC, making inappropriate actions and comments.

Mr Dickson has this morning resigned from all of his positions in the party, despite being a trusted One Nation member for years.

The footage comes after a three year long undercover operation by Al Jazeera, which sought to reveal some of the dealings the One Nation Party had with the National Rifle Association (America’s largest gun lobby) over gun laws in Australia.

The strip club footage was given to ‘A Current Affair’, which aired the footage last night, despite reportedly possessing it for some time.

The scandal comes just three weeks before the Federal Election.

One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson says she’s shocked and disappointed by the footage.

“I have always spoken very highly of Steve Dickson, but the footage I saw last night cannot be ignored or condoned.

“Steve Dickson yesterday offered his resignation from all positions within the party which I have accepted,” Ms Hanson said.

In Steve Dickson’s statement – he says he’s deeply remorseful for his disrespectful comments towards women.

“I found the footage difficult to watch as my words and actions under intoxication and in that environment, are not a true reflection of myself,” his statement said.

Despite his resignation, it’s believed Steve Dickson’s name will remain on the ballot paper for the election.
