ONE student has been killed and another has been critically injured in what police are describing as an ‘accidental shooting’ at an Alabama high school.
The shooting is understood to have happened at Huffman High School in Birmingham on Wednesday afternoon local time.
The two victims were rushed to hospital, with local media reporting one student, believed to be a 17-year-old girl, died en-route.

Birmingham City Schools released a statement a short time ago confirming the shooting.
“Two students were involved in a shooting during dismissal today at Huffman High School,” the school said.
“The school was placed on a brief lock down, and police were called to the scene.
“Students have been released and police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.”
It’s not yet known who fired the shots and no arrests have been made.
Investigations are continuing.
